February 2021 Update - Amazing Youtube Solo Page, And
Hal Leonard's Ukulele Flex Ensembles!
The songs in these collections are playable by any combination of Ukes. They all follow the same formula - a Melody part, a basic harmony, and a basic bass line.
This is a great opportunity for those more advanced (band nerd) kids who have strong reading and aural skills to embellish and improvise, especially with the accompaniment parts. Most of the books have chord symbols as well, in the event that your bass, guitar, or piano player want to join in the fun! These are all $9.99 USD and are available from music dealers in softcover , or available for download for Apple devices (applebooks) only.
These are probably good to have around during back-to-class periods for the older kids!
There are 8 titles available thus far (click on the title for songlists etc):
This is a free product, comparable to SmartMusic, only this has a much better selection of music!
Standard literature at varying levels (approximately RCM Grade 6 to ARCT/College Level) is available for woodwinds and brass..
For your upper level players - this is a fantastic opportunity for them to explore representative literature for their instrument with full accompaniments. These are predominantly MIDI but scored in their original instrumentation. (example: Bourgeois Concerto Op. 114 for Trombone and Orchestra - has a strings/winds/brass/percussion in the accompaniment track).
For the lower level (Grade 8-10) players, this is a great way to get used to reading music 'on the fly', and playing solo instrumental repertoire with a dedicated accompaniment. This is perfect for online teaching/distance learning!
